The access industry requires experience and expertise in using access equipment safely and properly. The Regulations are rightly rigorous in the training required prior to allowing a staff member to use the equipment. Ribble valley operates a series of additional services to assist you in getting your personnel ready to use access equipment.
In some cases customers have a need to use access equipment, but don’t have trained and staff on hand. In this case, Ribble valley can move quickly to set up training within a few days to ensure the client operates within the law with the minimum of disruption to project timescales. This includes training courses leading to a Certificate of Training.
Most of our training courses can be provided at customer’s premises using their own equipment, thus ensuring the company is using trained staff who know how to use the equipment properly and safely. Remember, it’s the law. Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations Act 1998, anyone using the equipment must be trained.
The Health and Saftey (Offences) Act, which increases the penalties for health and saftey crimes, comes into force this month. This act amends section 33 of the Health and Saftey at Work, etc Act 1974, raising the maximum fine that may be imposed by the lower courts from £5000 to £20,000 for most health and saftey offenses. It also makes imprisonment an option for more offenses in both lower and higher courts. By exceeding the £20,000 maximum fine to the lower courts and making imprisonment an option, more cases will be resolved in the lower courts, and justice will be faster, less costly and more efficient.
